How does the GoRead App describe their product?

‘A digital reading record for all of your pupils.

Your children will build up a full reading record across their entire journey through school.

No More Paper Copies

Go contactless! GoRead removes the need for paper copies of reading records, that can be lost or damaged. The reading records can be analysed and staff can use handy reminders to ensure that children complete their reading tasks.

In summary….

The GoRead is a digital reading record.

  • Saves time and money for the school.
  • It provides a whole school overview of reading.
  • It only costs £1 per pupil for the academic year.

What does the team at HeadteacherChat think?

The GoRead App provides schools with a digital reading log. It is a quick and easy app to use for both adults in schools and parents at home.

We looked at GoRead and these are our thoughts:

  • We love this fantastic digital reading record that is affordable, easy-to-use, and accessible for parents, pupils, and staff.
  • It removes the need for paper-based reading records and the problems they present (both currently with COVID and longer-term with the loss of records etc).
  • We like the reward system which encourages children to read.
  • Pupils have their own login information to share their own books with school and so that they can comment about the books that they are reading. Older pupils can be encouraged to complete book reviews too which will provide schools with fantastic reading evidence for assessments.
  • We like the fact that you can see how the child’s reading has progressed throughout their time at school.
  • We love the fact that this is a much more environmentally friendly option rather than purchasing paper copies of reading records.
  • We think the children will love the opportunity to gain digital rewards for reading and to be able to create avatars.

How will this be of benefit to schools?

Go Read App provides a digital reading platform for schools. We particularly like how easy it is to use for everyone, including the pupils.

We are all for environmentally friendly options, and GoRead is certainly a clever idea that helps to reduce the costs both to the school and the environment.

Go Read offer all schools free training for staff and they actively support parents using the app with their Facebook page and help videos.

‘I am also the English Lead at my school, and I am able to obtain reading data from each class myself without taking up the time of the class teachers. It was very easy to set up and use and Russell Newman was very helpful and responded quickly to queries or questions that I had. It gives schools the opportunity to use reading at home data to inform planning and for assessment purposes. To do the same using a paper system would require a huge amount of effort and time.’
